The Merchant and the Jinnee

A story similar tot he man that meets death. In this a merchant meets a Jinn, who allows him to put his affairs in order so long as he returns to be killed. When the merchant returns, he meets three different Sheykhs. Each one challenges the Jinn to entertain it with a story for one third of the merchant's blood. The second Sheykh tells a story about finding his wife on a beach. When they set sail together the Sheykh's brothers began to covet her and plotted to kill him. She transforms into Jinneeyeh and whisks the man away to the safety of an island. She tells him she must kill his brothers for him, and left to go sink their ship. It is one example of a woman taking such actions in this collection of stories. Later, when they are home, two black hounds are found at the house and greet the Sheykh. His wife tells him it is his brothers who have been turned into dogs.
