Male Characters

Sigmund - probably the most important of the Volsungs. Odin leaves a sword in a tree for anyone worthy. When Seggeir fails to pull it out, Sigmund succeeds. This starts the rivalry between the Volsungs and Seggeir, but it also means that Sigmund is destined to become king. He has a son with his twin sister and together they overthrow Seggeir and Sigmund becomes king. Just to make things more confusing, Sigmund's son, Sigurth/Sigurd will name his son Sigmund, after his grandfather.

Sigurd - Son of Sigmund. Of his hero's journey, killing the dragon Fanfir is one of his greatest feats.
